Watertown - Miss Mary Ellen Hawko of Watertown died Monday, January 30, 2017, in the Milford Regional Medical Center in Milford. She was 66. Mary Ellen was born in Malden, a daughter of the late Lawrence and Ann (Moore) Hawko.
Mary Ellen was raised in Everett and moved to Watertown in her late teens. She was the manager at the Stonebridge Resident Store in Burlington.
Mary Ellen volunteered at the Saint Patrick's Church Food Pantry and was a member of the Saint Patrick's Church Choir and the Saint Patrick Church Family Players in Watertown. She was a former member of the Saint Luke's Church Choir in Belmont.
Mary Ellen is survived by her sisters, Ann Howard and her husband, Bill, of Epping, NH and Regina DeFelice and her husband, Richard, of Nashua NH; her sister-in-law, Sally Hawko of Brentwood, NH; her nieces and nephews, Beth Boudreau, Carl Howard, Laura MacKenzie, Ricky DeFelice, Michael DeFelice, John DeFelice, Brian DeFelice, and Deanna DeFelice; her grandnieces and grandnephews, Michael, Caitlin, Kevin, Chris, Sarah, Alayna, Brianna, Vanessa, and Layla; and her great grandnephew, Silas.
She was also the sister of the late John Hawko.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary Ellen's life by gathering for calling hours on Sunday, February 5th, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham and again on Monday at 8 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
