Hudson – Mrs. Mary E. (Flood) Hennessey, of Hudson, formerly of Waltham, died Tuesday, July 26, 2022, in Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She was 84.
Mary was born in Boston on May 27, 1938, a daughter of Ireland natives, John and Elizabeth (Cafferty) Flood. She was raised in Belmont and was a graduate of Saint Mary's High School in Waltham. She married Frederick Hennessey on July 3, 1965 and the pair made Waltham their lifelong home. She and Fred were longtime parishioners of Our Lady's Parish in Waltham.
After graduating from travel agent school she worked for years as a reservation coordinator for the Pompano Beach Club in Bermuda and continued to work part time in that position until she was 80.
Nothing brought Mary more happiness than her family; she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She lovingly cared for her mother and siblings in their later years and enjoyed minding her grandchildren when they were young. She looked forward to trips to Bermuda with Fred and her friends and Disney World with her children and grandchildren. Mary cherished seeing the joy on her grandchildren's faces as they experienced the park as well as taking in the sights and sounds around her.
She leaves her beloved husband, Frederick J. Hennessey; her children, Kathleen P. Ciampa, and her husband, Richard, of Walpole, and Michael F. Hennessey, and his wife, Jessica, of Hudson; her grandchildren, Victoria, Alex, and Matthew Ciampa and Ryan, Jamie, and Katie Hennessey; her sister-in-law, Kathleen Flood of Malden, and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Mary was the sister of the late Joseph Flood and Patricia Fitzgerald.
