Mrs. Mary Jane R. (Galvin) Trumbour, of Waltham, died Monday, November 18, 2024, following a period of declining health. She was 86.
Mary Jane was born in Wilmington, Delaware on August 4, 1938, a daughter of the late Norbert Richard and Dolores Regina (Gordon) Galvin and moved with her family to Watertown during her childhood. She was a graduate of Rosary Academy in Watertown and Burdett College in Boston.
Following her October 1957 marriage to Bob Trumbour, the pair lived in Watertown for four years, before moving to Waltham, where they raised their family.
Throughout her life, Mary Jane was devoted to caring for her family and volunteering outside of the home. She volunteered at Waltham Hospital, supporting the staff and patients in any way she could. Mary Jane was also known to offer help by participating in many of her children’s school activities, including reading to children in the classroom.
She had a lifelong passion for learning and reading. Mary Jane read many books and writings related to American history and Indigenous peoples' culture. She had a great appreciation for Native American artwork. Of note, she thoroughly enjoyed working at the Many Nations Trading Post in Concord, Massachusetts several years back. Her fondest memories were created together with her fifteen grandchildren and her great-granddaughter. Mary Jane also had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog Bella.
The wife of the late Robert G. Trumbour, she leaves her children, Michelle Heatley Zicko (Peter) of Boxborough, Stephanie Maggiani (David) of Marshfield, Lisa Sarno (Joseph) of Upton, Suzanne Cercone (Nick Jr.) of Waltham, Robert E. Trumbour (Darlene) of Rockport and Julie Casella (Joseph) of Marlborough; Mary Jane was also the mother of the late Matthew Trumbour.
Together with her late husband Bob, through her children, Mary Jane also leaves behind a legacy in her grandchildren, Jessica, Jillian, Jonathan, Adrian, Elisa, Alyssa, Jarod, Brianna, Nicholas, Zachary, Matthew, Sophie, Kiva, Olivia and Emily, and her great-granddaughter, Isla. She also leaves her brother, N. Richard “Dick” Galvin (late Pamela) of Andover and Michael Galvin (Carol) of Waltham as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families. Mary Jane will also be dearly missed by her lifelong friend, Mrs. Martha Carnuccio of Florida.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary Jane's life by gathering for an afternoon wake on Sunday, November 24th, 2024 from 2 to 5 pm in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, and again at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
