Mary Elizabeth ‘Lillian’ (Wilson) Kostbar, a long-time resident of Waltham, MA passed away on November 19, 2022. She was 98.
Dear daughter of the late John R. and Margaret (MacDowell) Wilson, beloved wife of Amiel S. Kostbar of 17 years, devoted mother of Elizabeth K. ‘Lisa’ Alemian and her husband, Peter, and loving grandmother of Andrew, Peter, and Ashley Alemian.
Lillian was born in County Mayo, Ireland on May 27, 1924 and immigrated to the United States in 1926 where she was raised and educated in the Bronx, NY. She attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing and worked for many years as a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Manhattan. She subsequently worked in the New York City Public School System before moving to Waltham in 1990. She volunteered at Charlesgate Manor in Waltham, where she created a choral group, and at The Armenian Museum of America in Watertown. However, what drew Lillian to the Boston area was the birth of her grandchildren. She loved the company of her family and being close to them brought her immense joy.
Relatives and friends will honor and remember Lillian's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 28th, 2022 in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20) Waltham, followed by her funeral service at 11:00 a.m.
Private burial will be held in Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, New York.
Expressions of sympathy may be made in Lillian’s name to St. Stephen's Armenian Apostolic Church, 38 Elton Ave, Watertown, MA 02472 or to Operation American Soldier, 215 Mt Auburn St, Watertown, MA 02472.
