Mary Hayes Langton, age 95, passed away peacefully on April 25, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 9, 1921 in Waltham, Massachusetts; she was the seventh of nine children, to William A. and Emma Leary Hayes. She was a 1939 graduate of Saint Mary High School, Waltham. In 1944 she married Laurence Bragan Langton. Prior to her years raising their six children in Waltham, she was educated at The Fay Secretarial School and worked as a legal secretary in Boston. Over the years, she did secretarial work at a legal office in Waltham and at the Marriage Tribunal of Boston. Additionally, she worked at the book stores at both Regis College and Newton college of the Sacred Heart.

In retirement she resided with her husband of 63 years in Fort Pierce, Florida during the years 1978 to 2005. An avid reader, she was a Great Books Discussion Leader and an active participant in numerous book discussion groups; most recently the Adult Book Discussion at the Sandwich Library. A life-long-learner she continually enjoyed her course-work at various colleges. Most recently and right up until her death, she took classes at the Academy of Lifelong Learning at the Cape Cod Community College.

She is survived by her six children and their spouses: Beth and Ted Ellis; Ginny and Jim Graham; Lauren and Howard Robinson; Larry and Sue Langton; Bill and Laura Langton; Paula and Ken Cheeseman; 19 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

A daily communicant for her entire life, Mary's relationship with God informed every aspect of her being. She treasured her primary vocation as a wife and mother. In addition, for over 50 years she had a formal, committed vocation as a Volunteer member of the Focolare Movement. Founded by Chiara Lubich, during WWII, Focolare's charism is one of unity in diversity and interreligious dialogue. Fed by this community, Mary dedicated her life to living the gospel-based spirituallity that all may be one (John 17-21) into her daily life. Mary's love for God and people overflowed to everyone she met.
