Needham - Mrs. Mary J. (Martin) Maher of West Roxbury, formerly of Waltham and Watertown, died Monday, January 2, 2006 in the Wingate Nursing Center in Needham. She was 88. Mrs. Maher was born and raised in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School. Mrs. Maher had lived for most of her life in Watertown before moving to Newton and, in later years, to West Roxbury. Mrs. Maher was the wife of the late Patrick P. Maher, the daughter of the late Thomas and Delia (Egan) Martin, and the sister of the late Florence C. Martin. She is survived by her children, Margaret M. Vasquezi of Hudson, John W. Maher and Annmarie M. Coutu both of West Roxbury, Barbara J. Walsh of Newton and Frances T. Kehoe of Waltham; her brother, Thomas J. Martin of Waltham; her sisters, Irene V. Martin and Mildred D. Bertolami both of Waltham, Edith A. Penzone of Lancaster, and Frances T. Buteau of Mashpee; ten grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 9 a.m. Friday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Marys Church 133 School Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
