Newton – Mrs. Mary E. (Welch) McMillen, of Newton, died Wednesday, February 10, 2016 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 94.
Mary was born in Brighton on December 27, 1921, a daughter of the late Daniel J. and Mary (Herlihy) Welch. She lived most of her life in Newton and was a graduate of Our Lady's High School.
Until her retirement she worked as office administrator at Regis College in Weston.
The wife of the late Raymond E. McMillen, Sr., she leaves her children, Raymond E. McMillen, Jr. and his wife, Laura, of Newton, Daniel J. McMillen and his wife, Aggie, of Taunton, Richard J. McMillen and his wife, Christine, of Newton, Donald E. McMillen and M. Patricia McMillen, both of Waltham and John M. McMillen and his partner, Bill Grenier, of Bradenton, Florida; her sisters, Rita L. Sheehy and Joan M. Sheehy, both of Newton; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the mother of the late Robert P. McMillen and a sister of the late Gerald P. Welch, Daniel J. Welch and Alice P. Welch.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for calling hours in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, February 15th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Needham.
