Mary Linda Orangio, of Marlborough, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, November 29, 2011 in the Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 66.
Mary, lovingly known as Linda to family and friends, was born in Waltham on May 1, 1945, a daughter of the late Augustin and Rita (Bennett) Chiasson. A graduate of the former St. Mary's High School she was a Waltham resident until 1990 when she moved to Marlborough. She is the former wife of Jerry Wheeler and Joseph Orangio.
Linda worked for over 30 years as an administrative assistant at Raytheon Company before retiring in 2010.
Family was important to Linda and she spent much of her time adoring her three grandchildren. She enjoyed the ocean and vacationing in York Beach, Maine. Linda was a talented knitter and spoiled family members with purchases from her many shopping excursions.
She leaves her children, Michael S. Wheeler and his wife, KrisTina, of Salem, Robert S. Wheeler and his fiancé, Wendy Ahlman, of Auburn, and Jennifer L. Orangio of Marlborough; her grandchildren, Gianna M. Tucci, Kevin Y. Wheeler, and Kylie G. Wheeler; and her sisters, Terri Devona and Denise Chiasson, both of Waltham.
Family and friends will honor and remember Linda's life by gathering for calling hours at the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, December 2nd from 4 to 8 and again at 10 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
