Waltham – Mrs. Mary G. (Cannalonga) Sama, of Waltham, died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at The Leland Home in Waltham. She was 95.
Mary was born in Cambridge on December, 29, 1919, one of eleven children born to Italian immigrants Vito and Elizabeth (Yozzo) Cannalonga. After her marriage to Belmont native Frank Sama the couple made Watertown their lifelong home. Mary moved to Waltham two years ago.
The wife of the late Francis A. "Frank" Sama, she leaves her children, Carol A. Verrochi and her husband, Alfred, of Waltham, James F. Sama and his wife, Lisa, of Windham, New Hampshire and Franco Sama of W. Hollywood, California; her grandchildren, Anne Mullaney, Linda Joyce, Kerri Verrochi, Jaime Kolahi and James and Blake Sama; her great-grandchildren, Michael, Matthew and Megan Mullaney, Casey and Justin Joyce and Charlie Romano; her siblings, Frank Cannalonga of Belmont, Victoria Keegan of Watertown, Margie McGee of Woburn and Nicholas Cannalonga of Lexington and many nieces and nephews.
Mary was also a sister of the late James Cannalonga, Vincenza Phelps, Thomas Cannalonga, Florence Cannalonga, Agnes Bressi, and Grace Taliente.
Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday, July 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
