Mary G. "Sis" Scafidi

Waltham - Mrs. Mary G. "Sis" (Nutile) Scafidi, of Waltham, died Thursday, January 16, 2014 in the Royal Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Braintree. She was 90.

Mary was born in Waltham on December 4, 1923, a daughter of the late Peter and Mary (Delorey) Nutile, and had been a lifelong resident. She worked as a potter for the Raytheon Company for many years until her retirement in 1989.

She was the wife of the late Salvatore C. "Tuidi" Scafidi and a sister of the late Charles Nutile, Josephine Mandile, and Peter Nutile.

Mary is survived by her sons, Salvatore W. "Tuidi" Scafidi of Mesa Arizona, Robert L. Scafidi of Hudson New Hampshire and Michael J. Scafidi of Hanover; her sister, Joan Dindo of Groton; her brothers, Joseph Nutile of Waltham, Paul Nutile of Granby and Robert Nutile of Oregon; eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mary's life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday, January 23rd, from 4 to 8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20) Waltham and again on at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
