MaryAnn Vaccaro

Waltham - Mrs. MaryAnn (Koson) Vaccaro, of Ashburn, Virginia, formerly of Waltham, died Saturday, August 27, 2011 in Manor Care of Fair Oaks in Fairfax, Virginia. She was 71.

MaryAnn was born in Brattleboro, Vermont on November 2, 1939, a daughter of the late Jacob and Helen (Wilbur) Koson. She was raised in Bellows Falls, Vermont where she graduated from the local high school. After that she attended Chandler School for Women in Boston. She lived in Waltham for more than fifty years before moving to Virginia last fall.

Until her retirement last year MaryAnn worked as a secretary at Deloitte and Touche in Boston. Before that she worked for many years for Arthur Anderson, also in Boston. She loved to shop, spend time with her family and friends, and was an avid fan of the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins. MaryAnn was a parishioner of Saint Jude Church for more than fifty years.

She leaves her children, Michael J. Vaccaro and his wife, Cecilia, of McLean Virginia, John A. Vaccaro and his wife, Shana, of East Longmeadow and Peter J. Vaccaro and his wife, Kathleen, of Ashburn, Virginia; her grandchildren, Michelle, Thomas, Garrett, Brooke, Samantha, and John Vaccaro and her sister, Linda Bushway and her husband, Gerald, of Unity, New Hampshire.

Family and friends will honor and remember MaryAnn's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, September 1st, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bellows Falls, Vermont.

Memorial donations may be made to the ALS Association, 320 Norwood Park South, 2nd Fl., Norwood, MA 02062.
