Waltham – Mrs. Maureen F. (McIvor) Cawley, of Waltham, died Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. She was 69.
Maureen was born in Waltham on January 5, 1944, a daughter of the late Francis W. and Marion E. (Graves) McIvor, and had been a lifelong resident. She was a graduate of Waltham High School.
Until her retirement last year she worked for a number of years as a secretary at Pine Manor College in Chestnut Hill. Before that she worked for the Honeywell Corporation and as a dental hygienist.
On November 17, 1971 she married David B. Cawley in Saint Jude Church and the couple settled in Waltham. Maureen enjoyed taking care of their home where she kept an immaculately manicured yard and garden. She and Dave also enjoyed spending many happy summers vacationing in Wells, Maine.
In addition to her husband of forty-two years, David, Maureen leaves her sisters, Marilyn E. McDonough of Waltham and Nancy L. Cox and her husband, Donald, of Arlington and several nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister-in-law of the late James McDonough.
Family and friends will honor and remember Maureen's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, January 8th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne on Friday, January 10th, at 11 a.m.
