Waltham – Mrs. Maureen T. Ryan (Maroney), of Waltham, died Monday, March 28, 2022 at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. She was 94 years old.
Maureen was born in Waltham on October 3, 1927, a daughter of the late John and Stella Maroney (York). She was raised in Waltham and was a graduate of Saint Charles High School and worked for a time at Waltham Federal Savings Bank before raising her family.
On October 6, 1951 she married John J. Ryan in Saint Charles Borromeo Church, and the pair made Waltham their lifelong home. Spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest joy. She would play games and cards with them and they all loved Nana's cooking as she was a talented cook and baker. In her earlier years the family spent many happy vacations having cookouts at the Cape and at Prince Edward Island, Canada. Later in life, John and Maureen loved their getaways to Vermont to see the fall foliage. She had a great sense of humor and her welcoming, kind, sweet nature will be missed by all who knew her.
Maureen leaves behind her children, James M. Ryan of Waltham, John P. Ryan (Celina) of Sudbury, Maureen T. DiBona (Anthony) of Millis, and Carolyn Leonelli (Russ) of Sudbury. She also leaves her grandchildren Danielle and Edan Ryan, Ariana (Sinja) and Giuseppe Leonelli, and Olivia and Sabrina DiBona; as well as her sister Anita Curtis of Natick, and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Robert E. Maroney and John F. Maroney Jr.; her sister, Stella M. Intinarelli and her sister-in-laws, Alice Mitchell, Margaret Bodio, and Marilyn Stanton.
Family and friends will honor and remember Maureen's life by gathering for calling hours on Thursday, March 31st from 4 to 8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Route 20), Waltham and again at 10 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
