Waltham – Mr. Michael P. " Buddy" Carey, of Waltham, died Monday, June 16, 2014 in MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham. He was 65.
Michael was born in Waltham on March 4, 1949, the son of the late John J. Carey and Arlene M. (O'Halloran) (Carey) Dunn. He was a graduate of Waltham High School and Salem State College.
For the past thirty years Michael worked as a sales representative for Package Supply Company of Avon. Before that he ran Carey's Catch, a seafood takeout restaurant in Lexington that he began shortly after college. Over the years he was a die-hard fan of the New England Patriots and the Boston Red Sox.
He leaves his son, Ross M. Carey and his wife, Selene, of Woodbridge, New Jersey; his sister, Judith A. Bergesen and her husband, Roy, of Franklin and his nieces and nephew, Kristine LaRue, David Bergesen, Julie McCabe and Joanna LaPlaca, and his longtime girlfriend, Leeann McMaster of Malden.
Family and friends will honor and remember Michael's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, June 20th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
