Michael G. Durant

Mr. Michael G. Durant, Sr., of Weymouth, died on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 in South Shore Hospital. He was 94.

Michael was born in Everett on January 31, 1924, the son of the late Vincent and Rose (Pesaturo) Durant. He graduated from Everett High School and Boston University and until his retirement had worked as an auditor for the federal government. He enjoyed music and in his spare time played piano and led his own band.

He was the husband of the late Alma M. (Crafts) Durant and is survived by his sons, Michael G. Durant, Jr. of Charlestown and Brian G. Durant of Watertown; his grandchildren, Michelle Rose Blitzman, Michael John Fitzgerald and Corey Dann.

He was also the father of the late Jeanne Marie Fitzgerald and brother of the late Frank Durant and Vincent Durant.

Family and friends will honor and remember Michael's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, April 29th from 2 to 5 p.m. and again on Monday morning when his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Weymouth.
