Michael "Gary" Hawker

Winchendon – Mr. Michael Gary Hawker, of Winchendon, died Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Gardner Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. He was 79.

Michael was born in Boston on July 5, 1943, a son of the late James F. and Helen A. (Blewitt) Hawker, and grew up in Holy Cross Cathedral Parish.  After high school he served with the United States Army Reserves.

A longtime resident of Shirley, he had worked for years for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority until he retired and relocated to Winchendon with his wife.

He was the husband of the late Joanne (Harris) Hawker. He leaves his brother, Rev. James F. Hawker of Weymouth and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Michael’s life by gathering to visit at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 3^rd in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 12 noon.
