Michael J. McGovern

Waltham – Mr. Michael J. McGovern, of Waltham, died Friday, September 11, 2009 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 55. Michael was born in Waltham on October 4, 1953, a son of the late James F. and Margaret A. (Farquharson) McGovern, and was a graduate of Waltham Vocational High School. Mike was a life-long car enthusiast and had been the owner and operator of Adventure Car Rental in Brighton for fifteen years. Before that he operated Mike’s Exxon on Main Street in Waltham. Michael leaves his sister, Margaret A. O’Connor and her husband, Michael, of Waltham, his brothers, James F. McGovern, Jr. of Reading and Robert S. McGovern and his wife, Maryann, of Waltham and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Family and friends will honor and remember Michael's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be private.
