Waltham Mr. Michael P. Melanson of Waltham died Tuesday, June 8, 2004 in Brigham and Womens Hospital in Boston. He was 47. Born in Malden, Mr. Melanson had lived in Norwood and Waltham. He was a graduate of Norwood High School, Class of 1974. He was employed in air logistics for Delta Air Lines for twenty eight years. Mike was a beautiful person who demonstrated daily his belief in God, family, hard work and in giving his neighbor a helping hand, he will leave a void in our lives forever. Thanks to the many family, friends, and co-workers at Delta Air Lines whose daily support and encouragement were enormous throughout Mikes bravely fought fight, especially Shirley, Kathleen, Steve, Johnny, Mike and Kenny whose love and concern are endless. Thanks to everyone at Bentley College. The care, concern and friendship of co-workers and the deliberate and constant employee support of Mikes wife, Gail, greatly increased the quality of life for Mike and the entire family during this very difficult time. Mike, our hero, is forever loved and greatly missed by his wife his wife of twenty seven years, Gail M. (Dunton) Melanson; his daughters, Danielle and Dawn Melanson of Waltham; his mother, Margaret (Fay) Melanson of Naples, FL; his father, William Melanson and step mother, Ginny, of Lauderdale by the Sea, FL; his brothers, Paul Melanson of Milton, Donald Wise of NH, John Wise of Missouri, and Phillip Wise of Virginia; his sisters, Patti Borrello of Michigan and Nancy Couilliard of NH; his mother in law, Nellie Dunton of Watertown; his sisters in law Shirley Dunton of Arlington, Kathleen Dunton of Watertown, Sharon Higgins of Ormond Beach FL, Sandy Wise of NH and Patricia Dunton of Waltham; his brothers in law, Richard Dunton of Waltham, Steven Dunton of Marlboro, Brad Higgins of Ormond Beach FL, David Coulliard of NH, and Dr. Joseph Borrello of Michigan, his aunt, Kathleen Fay of Falmouth and many nieces and nephews including Brian, Sean, Steven, and Kristen Higgins of Ormond Beach, FL and his dog. Casey. Mr. Melanson was the son in law of the late Francis A. Dunton. The Funeral will be held on Saturday, June 12, at 8 am from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Patricks Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown, at 9 am. Burial will be in Saint Patricks Cemetery, Watertown. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 11, from 4-8 pm. Donations in Mikes memory to the Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center, 55 Fruit Street, Boston, MA 02114 would be appreciated. Following the burial on Saturday, family and friends are invited to the Sons of Italy, 99 Cedar Street, Waltham.
