Waltham – Mr. Michael O'Connor, of Waltham, died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. He was 73,

Mike was born in Galway, Ireland on May 21, 1937 and immigrated to the United States in 1956, settling in Brighton. He and his family moved to Waltham more than forty years ago. Until his retirement Mike worked for 27 years for the Polaroid Corporation in Waltham. He was also a longtime member of the Boston branch of Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Eireann and had served with the Massachusetts National Guard.

He leave his wife of 49 years, Brigid (McBrien) O'Connor; his children, James M. O'Connor and Kevin J. O'Connor, both of Waltham, Terence F. O'Connor of Everett and Paul V. O'Connor of Woburn and his grandchildren, Jessica, Colleen, Ryan, Camren, Hunter, Devin, Aidan and Gavin O'Connor.

Mike was also the brother of the late Brigid O'Connor.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mike's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, October 29th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
