Michelle Marie Colangelo, formerly of Belmont, died Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at her home. She was 52.
Michelle was born on June 24, 1969, a daughter of Robert and Diane (Wyskiel) Colangelo of Waltham. She was raised in Belmont and graduated from Belmont High School. While at Belmont High, she attended Barbizon Modeling School, and was a model for Jordan Marsh during the Christmas Holidays. She got a kick out of knowing, even in high school, how much the children who walked by would love seeing a real life Cinderella and Barbie.
Before her career in medical billing, she worked for a time as a preschool teacher. Anyone who knew Michelle knew that she was born for that job. She loved children and was great with them. Even after she taught them she was always doing things for the kids in the neighborhood. She would get them together to decorate pumpkins in the Fall, flower pots for Mother's Day and many other activities that centered around her artistic crafting skills.
Michelle's number one love was family, spending time with her children and grandchildren and of course her beloved rescue dog, Ruby. She looked forward to family vacations to Walt Disney World and Ogunquit, Maine during the summer. She lived for the large family get-togethers during the holidays. She would put her baking skills to work and was an expert at decorating; making the food spread look like it was catered by the Ritz, and that it always included mashed potatoes.
Michelle also lived for a time in Framingham.
In addition to her parents, she leaves her children, Nicholas and Michael Flatley of Mulberry, Florida; her grandchildren, Julianna and Oliver; her siblings Linda Bunyon (Jeff) of Westford and Sara Mack of Waltham; her nephews, Ryan, Matthew, Jason and Aaron and many aunts, uncles and cousins, with whom she was very close.
Family and friends will honor and remember Michelle's life by gathering for calling hours on Wednesday, March 23rd from 4 to 7 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
