Mildred D. (Martin) Bertolami

Mrs. Mildred D. (Martin) Bertolami, of Waltham, died Tuesday, October 24, 2023 at Maristhill Nursing Home.  She was 100.

Mildred was born in Waltham on January 19, 1923, a daughter of the late Thomas, Sr. and Delia (Eagan) Martin, and was a lifelong resident.  She was a graduate of Saint Mary’s High School.

Until her retirement Mildred worked as a receptionist for General Wholesale, Black and Webster and later at CTP Manufacturing, all in Waltham, where her warm smile, friendly nature and varied talents earned many friends.

Above all else Mildred was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.  Her family meant everything to her and when the great-grandchildren started arriving, her world was complete.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles as well as an occasional trip to Mohegan Sun with family and friends.

The wife of the late Anthony R. Bertolami, she leaves her children, Linda M. Gemelli (late Thomas) of Waltham, Janice M. DeJoy (Michael) of Burlington and Joyce M. Bergantino (Joseph) of Port St. Lucie, Florida; her grandchildren, Thomas Gemelli, Jr. (Katie), Anthony Gemelli (Brian Conway), Lisa Gemelli (Jana), John Gemelli, III (Amy), Daniel Gemelli (Jennifer), Jaclyn Bergantino Davidson (Jeremy) and Joseph Bergantino, Jr. (Tricia); her great-grandchildren, Tyler, Hannah, Sarah, Daniel, Jack, Rebecca, Matthew, Brendan, Raymond, Joseph, III, Nathan, Kyle and Addison and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred was also a sister of the late Thomas Martin, Frances Buteau, Edith Penzone, Mary Maher, Florence Martin and Irene Martin.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mildred’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, October 29^th from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
