Mrs. Myrtle R. (McGuigan) Kershaw, of Natick, formerly of Waltham, died Tuesday, April 21, in Eliot Healthcare Center, Natick. She was 79.
Myrtle was born on March 11, 1930 in Waltham, a daughter of the late Herbert and Ruby (Golding) McGuigan. She was a graduate of Waltham High School, class of 1949. She lived most of her life in Waltham before moving to Natick in 1980 upon her husband's retirement from the Waltham Fire Department. In their retired years they traveled extensively across the country covering over 44 states and enjoyed camping. She was also an avid bingo player and enjoyed crocheting. Mrytle was a devoted wife, much loved mother and cherished grandmother.
She leaves her husband of 56 years, Edward O. Kershaw; her children, Edward H. Kershaw of Townsend, Deborah E. Herring and her husband, Steve, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Linda J. Wojtkun and her husband, Paul, of Seminole, Florida, Judith A. Sheehan and her husband, Thomas, of Atkinson, New Hampshire and Sandra K. McLaughlin and her husband, Kevin, of Salem, New Hampshire; her brother, Thomas McGuigan of Waltham; 10 grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Myrtle was predeceased by her siblings, Herbert McGuigan Jr., Shirley Clancy, Muriel Bradbury and Anita Tracy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Myrtle's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Friday morning at 9 a.m. for her funeral service. The Rev. Robert F. Hoaglander will officiate. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
