Waltham - Mrs. Nancy M. (Higgins) Daley,of Waltham, died Friday, December 18, 2015 in the Epoch Senior Healthcare Center in Weston. She was 88.
Nancy was born in Worcester on May 4, 1927, a daughter of the late Dr. Lemuel W. Higgins, Sr. and Rita I. (Scanlon) Higgins. She was raised in Worcester, however graduated from high school in Texas while her father was in the Army. She went on to further her education at Clark University and at Worcester State College before finishing at Regis College in Weston where she earned a masters degree in education.
She taught in the Worcester Public School system, at the Lenox School in New York, and at The Bridge School in Lexington. A Waltham resident since the 1970's she began a second career as a travel agent for Garber Travel, Fox Travel, Newton Travel and Crimson Travel.
Nancy was the wife of the late Joseph A. Daley M.D. and the sister of the late Dorothy Donley and Dr. Lemuel W. Higgins, Jr.
She was the longtime companion of Donald Casey of Waltham and leaves several nieces and nephews and their families as well as her extended family of Higgins' and Casey's .
Family and friends will honor and remember Nancy's life by gathering to visit on Monday, December 28th at 8:30 a.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
