Sr. Nancy L. Swift, R.C.E., of Framingham, died peacefully on Wednesday June 14, 2017 in St. Patrick's Manor. She was 89.
Sr. Nancy was born in Milford on February 19, 1928, the daughter of the late John and Emily (Lee) Swift. She graduated from Jeanne d'Arc Academy in Milton in 1944 and then earned her Bachelor's Degree from Trinity College in Washington, D.C., her Master's of Education in Counseling and Psychology from Boston College, her Master's in Liturgy from the University of Notre Dame and her Doctorate in Liturgy and Theology from the University of Strasbourg in France.
Sr. Nancy made her First Profession into the Religious of Christian Education order in August of 1951 and took her Final Profession in August of 1956. She began her teaching career at Marycliff Academy in Winchester, she was also the principal of Jeanne d'Arc Academy in Milton before later becoming a professor of Liturgy at St. John's Seminary in Brighton for over twenty-nine years until her retirement. Sr. Nancy was an excellent teacher and was patient with all of her students, young and old. She had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed travelling and attending the theater.
Beside her confreres in the Religious of Christian Education Order she is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was sister of the late John E. Swift Jr., Francis L. Swift and Marilyn I. Swift.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sr. Nancy's life by gathering to visit on Thursday, June 22, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. at Saint Patrick's Manor, 863 Central St, Framingham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Watertown.
