Bellingham – Mr. Neil B. Malloy, of Bellingham, formerly of Watertown, died Friday, January 5, 2018 at his home. He was 98.
Neil was born in South Boston on March 21, 1919, a son of the late Hugh and Margaret (Jordan) Malloy. He was raised and educated in South Boston and at the outset of World War II he joined the United States Navy.
During the war he married Waltham native Rita M. McAvoy and the pair enjoyed fifty-five years together until Rita's death on February 13, 1998. They lived in Waltham for a time before moving to Watertown in 1950 where they raised their family.
After he got out of the service he became a naval inspector at the Boston Naval Shipyard and then was transferred to the Raytheon Company where he held the same position until retiring.
He leaves his children, Edward Malloy and his wife, Christine, of Nashua New Hampsire, Joseph P. Malloy of Watertown and Barbara L. Horton and her husband, Albert, of Bellingham; his grandchildren, Neil W. Malloy and his wife, Marycia, Brian Malloy, Laurie Ann Davis and her husband, Shawn, Robert Malloy, Laura Beth Malloy, Carolyn Malloy, David Horton and his wife, Diana, and Kerri Horton; his great-grandchildren, Jordan Malloy, Neil Malloy, Margaret Rita Malloy, Lily Malloy, and Nolan Horton and many nieces and nephews.
Neil was also the father of the late Neil J. Malloy and his late wife, Janice, and the late John F. Malloy and his late wife, Maureen and brother of the late Jordan Malloy, Barbara Baxter and Mary Rae.
Funeral services are private.
