Waltham – Mrs. Nellie A. (Urban) Pitts, of Waltham, died Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Eliot Healthcare Center in Natick. She was 90.
Nellie was born in Waltham on September 26, 1921, a daughter of the late Francis and Della (Smith) Urban, and had been a lifelong resident. Until her retirement she worked for the Rudolph Beaver Company in Waltham, a maker of surgical instruments. Before that she worked with her late husband, Ray, at their dry cleaning store, Ray's Cleansers, on Main Street in Waltham.
Her husband, Raymond R. Pitts, died in 1977 and she leaves her children, Roberta C. Wheeler and her husband, William, of Framingham and Raymond G. Pitts and his wife, Kathryn, of Eugene, Oregon; her sister, Alice Waitkunas; 5 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Nellie was also the mother of the late Richard C. Pitts and April A. Raynell and sister of the late Peter, Paul and Alfred Urban.
Family and friends will honor and remember Nellie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, April 27th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to the Blessed Sacrament Chapel of Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
