Westford – Mr. Nicholas Cardone, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, August 10, 2016 in Emerson Hospital in Concord. He was 91.
Nicholas was born January 9, 1925 in Penna, Province of Pescara, Italy a son of the late Corindo and Isolino (Marcia) Cardone. He immigrated to the United States at the age of 5 settling in Waltham. He was a graduate of Waltham High School with the class of 1948 and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. Nicholas married Irene C. Gariepy on January 31, 1948 and they were married for sixty-five years until her death on April 3, 2014. They lived in Waltham for many years before moving to Chelmsford in 1982 and later Westford.
Nick worked as plant manager at Brandies University for many years before retiring. Previously he had worked at E.G. & G. Manufacturing.
He was a communicant of St. Catherine's Church in Westford and was a former member of the Sounds of Concord musical group.
He was the brother of the late Albert Cardone and father-in-law of the late Nancy Cardone.
He leaves his sons, Gary A. Cardone of Ayer and Ronald T. Cardone and his wife, Diane, of Westford; his grandchildren, Michelle L., Nicholas J., Craig A. and Zachary C. Cardone; his sisters, Theresa A. Atwood of North Carolina and Irene M. Gaudet of Marlborough; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Nicholas's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, August 16th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
