Weston – Mr. Nicholas J. Palumbo, of Weston, died on Wednesday October 8, 2014 in Newton Wellesley Hospital. He was 87.
Nick was born in Waltham on June 25, 1927, the son of the late Pasquale and Maria (Ciceri) Palumbo. He graduated from Waltham High School where he had been an outstanding football player. He then went on to serve in the Navy during World War II. On January 16, 1949 he married Elizabeth Luchetti and the pair spent sixty-five wonderful years together.
For most of his life he worked as a bricklayer, a member of Local 32. He liked to stay active and enjoyed spending time in his garden, on the golf course or just fixing things around the house. When able he and Elizabeth enjoyed going out to dinner or a night at the theatre.
Besides his wife he is survived by his children, Robert A. Palumbo and his wife, Diana, of Concord, Richard J. Palumbo of Weston and Jill M. Walsh and her husband, Robert, of Milford; his grandchildren, Michael and Laura Walsh and Nicholas and Andrea Palumbo; his brother Paul Palumbo of Dennis and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Joseph, Anthony and Rose Palumbo, Ethel Sammarco, Sue DiGregorio and Esther Blanchard.
Family and friends will honor and remember Nick's life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday morning, October 14th from 8:30 until 9:30 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
