Waltham - Mrs. Norma (Leaf) McGann, of Waltham, formerly of Centerville, Weston and West Newton, died at the age of 96 on February 6, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Theodore and Olga (Iderstrom) Leaf.
A devoted lover of classical music, she began piano lessons at age 8, renewing her repertoire during Brandeis University lunch hours. Watercolor painting, knitting for charity, crewel work, short stories, church services and socials, travels to Scandinavia, the British Isles, Quebec, Bermuda, Florida, California, charming Cape Cod and all thing Swedish sustained her cheerful spirit. Low vision never dissuaded her joyfulness and sweetness. She is painfully missed by her loving family
Norma was the devoted wife of the late Benedict McGann.
She is survived by her children, Norma V. (Sissy) Renna and her husband, Richard, of Westwood and S. Jeffrey McGann of Elk Grove, CA; her grandchildren, Jeff McGann, Tracey Sullivan, Jody Chase and Jessica Iannino; her great grandchildren, Colby, Natalie, Chloe, Tess, Devon, Brandon, Mason and Maya; her brothers, Roy Leaf and Eliot Leaf, both of Ft. Myers, FL, and Carlton Leaf of Chilmark and many nieces and nephews throughout the U.S., in addition to her cousins in Sweden.
Norma was the mother-in-law of the late Carol Silvio and sister to the late Theodore Leaf, Eleanor McLaughlin and Elizabeth Harrigan.
A memorial service will be held Monday, May 11, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at First Lutheran Church, 6 Eddy St, Waltham, MA 02453.
