Norma F. (Smith) Nix

Waltham – Mrs. Norma F. (Smith) Nix, of Waltham, died Monday, February 22, 2016 in her home. She was 86.

Norma was born in Quincy on December 19, 1929, a daughter of the late Norman F. and Florence J. (MacPhee) Smith and was raised and educated in Dorchester.

After her marriage to her late husband, retired Waltham Firefighter Oscar E. Nix, she moved to Waltham where she and Oscar raised their family.

Norma leaves her children, Donald E. Nix and his wife, Chris Ann, of Natick, Stephen M. Nix, Julia F. Nix, and Douglas F. Nix and his wife, Kim, all of Waltham; her grandchildren, James Nix, Kara Krauss, Stephanie O'Neill, Julia Nix, Laura Nix, and Sarah Nix; and her great grandchildren, Drew Nix, Cameron Nix, Jack Krauss, Max Krauss, Olivia O'Neill, and Gavin O'Neill.

She was the sister of the late Rev. Fulton B. Smith.

Family and friends will honor and remember Norma's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, February 25th from 6 to 8 p.m. and again on Friday morning in Mount Feake Cemetery, 203 Prospect Street, Waltham where graveside services will be held at 11 a.m.
