Norman E. Dubé

Billerica – Mr. Norman E. Dubé, of Billerica, formerly of Waltham, died Monday, February 11, 2013 at his home at Billerica Crossings. He was 88.

Norman was born in Waltham on April 13, 1924, a son of the late Omer and Victorine (Mercier) Dubé, and had been a lifelong resident before recently moving to Billerica. After graduating from Waltham High School he served with the United States Navy during World War II aboard the Essex-class aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard (CV-31) that saw action in the Pacific.

Until his retirement Norman worked as a tool and die maker for MacNeill Engineering Company of Marlboro. He was a longtime member of Saint Joseph's Parish in Waltham where he belonged to the Holy Name Society, the Couples Club and the parish Bowling League. Norman also sang in the choir at Our Lady's Church in Waltham and had been a member of the Waltham Senior Citizens and the Catholic Association of Foresters.

The husband of the late Eveline (Benear) Dubé, he leaves his children, Robert Dubé and his wife, Kathleen, of Greece, New York, Margaret Baillio and her husband, Michael, of Dunstable, James Dubé and his wife, Lucille, of Framingham, Michael Dubé and his wife, Linda, of Billerica, Elizabeth Barr and her husband, Roger, of Deltona Florida, Albert Dubé and his wife, Lorena of Mesa, Arizona, Joseph Dubé and his wife, Kathleen, of Nashua, New Hampshire and Marie Hoover and her husband, Donald, of Brimfield; his sister, Jeannette Gustafson of Auburn; his devoted companion, Edna Bardsley of Waltham; 20 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Norman was also a brother of the late Paul Dubé, Philippe Dubé and Rita Scafidi.

Family and friends will honor and remember Norman's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, February 14th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
