Mother Teresa was quoted saying, "Intense love does not measure, it just gives."
Mrs. Nunziata "Nancy" (Lembo) Cuttone lived her life of great love by giving and putting others needs before her own. When she died at her home on Monday, April 6, 2015, she left a legacy of love and was surrounded by her family. She was 84.
Nancy was born in Ucria, Sicily on March 8, 1931, a daughter of the late Giuseppe and Anna (Salpietro) Lembo. Nancy, her husband, and their infant son immigrated to the United States in 1956, settling in Waltham where they have resided ever since.
She led a life that enriched the lives of everyone around her. Nancy was a devoted wife of more than sixty years, a dedicated homemaker to her 5 children, and a proud grandmother of her 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. She adored and loved spending time with family and friends, always entertaining and cooking for all. In Nancy's home, it was common to have a line of people standing at the kitchen door waiting to enjoy some homemade pizza, sauce, and meatballs.
Nancy worked at Jet Spray Cooler in Waltham for 16 years and formed lifelong friendships that continue to remain strong today.
Nancy was not materialistic. She was more than happy with what she already had around her…her home, her husband, and her family. She dedicated her life to raising and providing for her family. The sacrifices she made, together with her husband, were made to enhance the lives of their children and grandchildren.
Nancy enjoyed dinner and dancing with her husband, the love of her life, at many Sons of Italy functions. She loved to take walks daily with her husband and spend time at the beach with her family. She enjoyed gardening and spent endless hours jarring sauce with her husband. Nancy was fond of birds, angels, and found pleasure in knitting and crocheting. She loved to travel and see new places. She was a devout Catholic, attended Mass weekly, and prayed the Rosary nightly.
Nancy had the ability to make those around her feel loved, wanted and needed. Love and affection radiated out of her and touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She cherished the simplest gifts in life and created memories that will last forever.
Nancy was well loved and respected by so many that everyone called her Noni or Mama Cuttone, even if they were not her immediate family.
She leaves her husband, Domenic Cuttone, her children, Vincenzo "Vinny" Cuttone and his wife, Sandra, of Concord, Anna Meliones and her husband, Keith, of Wayland, Rosalie Weber and her husband, Don, of Omaha, Nebraska, Nancy McCarthy of Wayland and Mary Gately and her husband, David of Maynard; her brother, Sebastiano Lembo and his wife, Theresa, of Messina, Sicily; her sister-in-law, Vincenza (Gurgone) Lembo of West Newton; 14 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, here and in Italy.
Nancy was also a sister of the late Phillip Lembo, Rose Mollica, Angelina Apruzzese and Anthony Lembo.
Family and friends will honor and remember Nancy's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, April 10th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
