Orbin W. Raymond

Waltham – Mr. Orbin W. Raymond, of Waltham, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at Watertown Health Care Center. He was . . . as he always liked to say . . . 93 years young.

Orbin was born in Waltham on February 3, 1924, a son of the late William and Viola (Haines) Raymond, and had been a lifelong resident.

He worked as a dishwasher, first at Hart's Diner at the corner of Moody and Carter Streets and then for years at the Colonial Kitchen on Crescent Street where he became a fixture of the place. It was a job that he loved and the people that he worked with even more. After Colonial Kitchen closed he worked at the Heritage Restaurant on Moody Street until his retirement.

Orbin was more than a fifty year member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge No. 1018 in Waltham where he was a proud member of the Honor Guard. In later years he looked forward to attending the UCP 'Dayhab' Program in Watertown.

The brother of the late Robert Raymond and Orlene "Pat" McGonigle, he leaves his niece and nephews, Mary Jo Vasquezi of Waltham, James McGonigle of North Conway, New Hampshire, Stephen McGonigle of Cotuit and many grandnieces, grandnephews and their families.

Orbin was also the uncle of the late Terrance McGonigle.

Family and friends will honor and remember Orbin's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 28th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
