Waltham Retired Waltham Firefighter Oscar E. Nix of Waltham died Sunday, September 7, 2003 in Newton-Wellesley Hospital. He was 91. Born in Woodville, Nova Scotia, Canada, Mr. Nix had lived in Waltham since 1929. He was a Waltham Firefighter for 27 years at the Moody Street Station until his retirement in 1974. He was a World War II veteran who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He is survived by his wife, Norma F. (Smith) Nix; his children, Donald E. Nix of Natick, Stephen M. Nix, Julia F. Nix, and Douglas F. Nix all of Waltham; his brother, Richard Nix of Nova Scotia, Canada; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was the brother of the late Lillian MacFetridge and Marion Brown. A Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham.
