Mr. Pankaj Viranchilal Shah, of Mumbai- India passed away unexpectedly on Monday November 24th, 2014. He was 63. Pankaj was born, raised & educated in Mumbai, India, a son of Late Viranchilal Dayabhai Shah and Late Kantaben Viranchilal Shah. He was visiting his expectant daughter in Waltham,
Massachusetts from India for a few months when suddenly his life was cut short due to a cardiac arrest.
Pankaj is survived by his wife- Smita, children- Reshma and Mayur, son-in-law- Sumesh, sister-in-law- Vishakha, niece- Dimple, son-in-law- Sachin, nephew- Pranav, daughter-in-law- Nidhi, grandchildren- Dhruvya & Baby Rayaan. He was also the brother of late Prakash Viranchilal Shah.
Pankaj was an obedient son, helpful brother, awesome husband, empathetic father, fun grandfather & a compassionate uncle. He had a big heart & was always ready to help others. He lived a very simple and humble lifestyle. His sense of humor & timing of jokes would always crack everyone up. He was gifted with beautiful light brown eyes & hair along with a unique quality of being ambidextrous.
In the first forty years of his life, he got himself a Bachelor's degree in Science & Diploma in Business. He started Empress Thread Mills- his first factory as a businessman in Mumbai, India. In the next 20 years of his life, he gave his wife (Smita) a beautiful home, his children (Reshma & Mayur) good education, got his daughter married to her childhood sweetheart (Sumesh), encouraged his son to pursue opportunities abroad & as such lived a happy family life. The last 3 years of his life he visited Los Angeles, Las Vegas, San Francisco, Salt Lake City, New York City, Atlanta, Knoxville, Boston etc in the United States & Melbourne in Australia. He loved to travel, meet new people & explore different cultures. In September 2014, he got promoted to a grandfather to Baby Rayaan Zingde.
In his spare time, he would use his craftsman skills to make beautiful home decors such as Wooden Light Lanterns, Picture Frames etc. He religiously devoted couple hours of the day to facebook, whatsapp & other social sites.
At age 63, when he decided to bid farewell to the world, he looked handsome & content with all his accomplishments in life. His last rites were performed at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, MA. His journey started in Mumbai, India in 1951 & ended in Boston, USA in 2014.
We will miss Pankaj dearly.
