Waltham – Mrs. Pat (Withington) Chiasson, of Waltham, died Monday, November 27, 2017 at Pennsylvania State Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania after being hospitalized for a week while traveling. She was 78.
Pat was born in Somerville on March 17, 1939, a daughter of the late George and Alice (Gelinas) Withington, and moved as a child with her family to Wayland. She was a graduate of Wayland High School.
A Waltham resident for the past fifty-five years she worked for more than twenty years at the membership desk at Waltham's YMCA where she made many friendships among clients and staff.
Family meant everything to Pat and the memories they created at home, on vacations and at their cottage in Onset will be forever treasured. One of Pat's favorite destinations, and on her itinerary for her current trip, was Assateague Island National Seashore in Ocean City, Maryland where she marveled at the beauty of the beach and the more than 300 wild ponies that roam the seashore. In her spare time she also loved to read.
She is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-eight years, Lester J. Chiasson; her children, Leslie J. DiPardo and her husband, David, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Georgette M. Chiasson and Terri A. Chiasson, both of Waltham; her brother, Billy Withington of Wilbraham; 2 step-grandchildren, 4 step great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Dick Withington.
Family and friends will honor and remember Pat's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, December 3rd from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
