Patricia A. Craig

Shrewsbury – Mrs. Patricia A. (Brophy) Craig, of Shrewsbury and formerly of Waltham, died on Wednesday July 30, 2014 in the Rose Monahan Hospice House in Worcester with her children and grandchildren by her side. She was 74.

Pat was born in Waltham on May 26, 1940, a daughter of the late Thomas and Florence (Corbett) Brophy. She graduated from the Catherine Laboure School of Nursing in 1961 and was a registered nurse at the former Waltham Hospital for over twenty-five years and later at Boston University and Eastern Casualty Company. Pat lived many years in Waltham, Hudson and Berlin.

Pat's husband Cornelius died in 1972 and she worked hard to provide for her four children. She was a dedicated, compassionate, and nurturing mother. She loved animals, reading, nature, and most importantly time spent with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed Irish and Broadway music and always looked forward to attending the Reagle Players performances here in Waltham.

She was the wife of the late Cornelius J. Craig and is survived by her children, Patricia Angevine of Shrewsbury, David Craig and his wife, Tricia, of North Attleboro, Susan Allen and her husband, David, of Marlborough, and Daniel Craig and his wife, Tina, of Berlin; her grandchildren, Katherine, Amelia, Mary, Megan, Julia, Lucas, Christopher, Lydia, Neil and Brian; her great-granddaughter Sophia Grace; her siblings, Thomas Brophy and his wife, Rosemarie, of Hudson and Richard Brophy and his wife, Marie, of Dennis; her sisters and brothers-in-law, James Gieseke, Vincent Craig and his wife, Blanche, John Craig and his wife, Sue, and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was also the sister of the late Robert Brophy and Maureen Gieseke and sister-in-law of the late Ann Brophy, Margaret Cushing and Merrill Cushing.

Family and friends will honor and remember Pat's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday August 4th, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Charles Borromeo Church, 51 Hall St., Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
