Patricia M. (Murphy) Lapenta

Patricia M. (Murphy) Lapenta, of Waltham, died Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Aberjona Nursing Home in Winchester following a period of declining health. She was 90.

Pat was born in Jamaica Plain, a daughter of the late Edwin and Gertrude (Towhill) Murphy, and was raised in West Roxbury. She was a graduate of Mount Saint Joseph High School in Brighton.

Following her May, 1955 marriage to Brighton native Leonard J. Lapenta at Saint John Chrysostom Church in West Roxbury, the couple lived in Brighton before moving to Waltham five years later.

Pat and Len were long time members of Saint Jude Parish in Waltham where they were very active in church and school affairs. Before becoming a full time mom Pat worked for a time at Saint Elizabeth’s Hospital in Brighton and after the kids were grown went to work at Weston High School.

She and Len took up skiing at Loon Mountain in Lincoln, New Hampshire and grew to love the sport. As often they could the family spent time at their home in North Woodstock, New Hampshire where winters were spent at Loon Mountain and summers were spent exploring the beauty and attractions in the White Mountains.

Time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren created the happiest memories for Pat and brought her a smile to her face whenever they were around.

In addition to her beloved husband of seventy years, Lenny, she leaves her children, Marie Boyd of Yarmouthport, Denise Feloney (Lawrence) of Natick, Philip Lapenta (Diane) of Framingham and Leonard J. Lapenta, Jr. (Lori) of Melrose; her grandchildren, Jessica, Jennifer, Lawrence, Kara, Amy, Cali and Jenna; her great-grandchildren, Bryson and Hunter, her sisters, Maureen Cassidy of Gainesville, Virginia and Kathleen Hall of Beverly and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Pat was also the mother of the late Marc Lapenta and sister of the late Christine Murphy-Stark.

Family and friends will honor and remember Pat's life by gathering for a Morning Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, April 22nd from 9 to 10 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Grove Hill Cemetery, Waltham.
