Patricia (Lanagan) Ohnemus, of Waltham, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023 at the age of 91. Pat died peacefully in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Waltham on April 30, 1932 to the late William and Gertrude (Kelley) Lanagan, Pat was a life-long Waltham resident. She is survived by her adoring husband of 68 years, Bernard X. Ohnemus, her loving and devoted children Patricia Keane (Paul) of Glen NH, Stephen of Apple Valley MN, Judith Bisson (Kell), Susan Hogan (Shane) and Andrea Landry (Richard) all of Waltham. Pat was a loving and adoring grandmother to her 10 grandchildren: Bryan Keane (Alexandra) of Johnston, RI, Jaclyn Krulik (Andrew) of Olathe, KS, Stephanie Megna (Kristopher) of Nantucket, MA, Andrea Schloegel (Van) of Lexington, KY, Natalie Bisson of Waltham, Alex Bisson of Boston, Matthew Bonvouloir of Medford, Lauren Landry of Norwood, James Landry of East Providence, RI and Ryan Landry of Waltham. She recently welcomed three great-grandchildren into her family. Pat is also survived by her sister Jane Fisher and sister-in-law Helen Lanagan, both of Burlington, and was predeceased by her brother William Lanagan of Burlington. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Pat was a devout Catholic and a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary Church in Waltham. She graduated from St. Mary High School in 1950 and from Framingham State University in 1954. She was an elementary school teacher in Waltham before raising her family. Pat was a loving and adoring mother to her 5 children and supportive partner to her husband and his several businesses. Pat and her family always cherished their memories of many wonderful summers spent at their home on Lake Winnipesaukee.
Pat was a member of the Waltham Jaycee-ettes, and the Waltham College Club and enjoyed her neighborhood coffee klatch. In later years, she was a dedicated volunteer at Waltham Hospital, earning her 5000 hour pin, and at the Campion Center in Weston. Pat and Bernie traveled extensively across the country and across the world with many different groups of friends and spent many winter seasons in Naples Fl. Pat and Bernie were long-time members of the Oakley Country Club and greatly enjoyed their time there.
Friends and family will honor and remember Pat’s life by gathering for calling hours in the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, (Route 20) Waltham, on Wednesday, January 3 from 4-7 pm and again at 9:00 am on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to St. Mary Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where her FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated at 10 am. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
