CHANGE OF TIME --- the Funeral Mass for Mr. Sharkey will be at 12 noon on Saturday at Saint Jude Church in Waltham ---
Watertown – Mr. Patrick C. "Chris" Sharkey, of Watertown, died Wednesday, September 23, 2015 at Newton- Wellesley Hospital. He was 85.
Chris was born in Dublin, Ireland on May 22, 1930, a son of the late William and Margaret (Timothy) Sharkey, and moved to the United States in 1959. After living for a time in Dorchester he moved to Roslindale where he was a longtime parishioner and member of the choir at Sacred Heart Church. He moved to Watertown in 1997.
Until his retirement he worked as a doorman at Tremont on the Common in Boston and before that was a truck driver for the Jordan Marsh Company. Chris enjoyed bowling and soccer and treasured his large family who will remember their beloved 'Uncle Christy' as being warm, loving, kind and generous throughout their lives.
Chris leaves his sisters and brother, Anne C. Walsh of Watertown, Patricia Kinch of Dundalk, Co. Louth, Ireland and Michael Sharkey of Dublin, Ireland and many nieces and nephews and their families including Kevin Walsh of NM, Kathleen Walsh of Arlington, Brendan Walsh of Needham, Emmet Walsh, Mickey Walsh, both of Watertown and Patsy Shea of Charlestown.
He was also a brother of the late Peter and Kevin Sharkey.
Family and friends will honor and remember Chris' life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, September 25th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 noon. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
