Warren – Mr. Patrick J. Veno, of Warren, formerly of Waltham died Wednesday, November 14, 2012 at his home. He was 94.
Patrick was born in Cambridge on October 7, 1918, a son of the late Nicholas and Caroline (Falzarano) Veno. He was raised in Cambridge and during the Depression years worked for President Franklin Roosevelt's Civilian Conservation Corps.
He and his late wife, Grace M. (MacMillan) Veno, moved to Waltham's Lakeview section in 1945 where they bought a home and raised their family. After Grace's death on December 27, 1993 Pat remained at home until his recent move to Warren.
Until his retirement he worked as a kiln operator for the Myerson Corporation in Cambridge. He was very handy with a set of woodworking tools and could build or fix almost anything. Always a fan of Boston sports he took a keen interest in following the Boston Bruins and the New England Patriots.
He leaves his children, Kenneth Veno of Holbrook, Patricia Sennett and her husband, David, of Greenfield, New Hampshire, Katherine Caruso of Warren, Carolyn Gallagher and her husband, Robert, of Waltham and Lisa Sanborn and her husband, Kenneth, of Merrimack, New Hampshire; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and his caregiver, Andrew Kawere.
Pat was also the father of the late Richard Veno; father-in-law of the late Ruth Veno and Joseph Caruso and a brother of the late Angelina Griffin, Lucy Murphy, Mary Button, Jean Thurston, and Anthony Veno.
Family and friends will honor and remember Patrick's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, November 18th from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery.
