Waltham – Mr. Paul J. Brady, of Waltham, died Friday, November 3, 2017 at his home following a period of declining health. He was 89.
Paul was born in Waltham on June 27, 1928, a son of the late Clarence and Mary Alice (LeBlanc) Brady, and had been a lifelong resident. He was a graduate of Waltham High School and served with the United States Army during the Korean War.
When he left the service he trained as a butcher and began a forty year career as the proprietor of Brady Beef Company on Elm Street in Waltham. After retirement Paul began a second career as the office manager for Maguire Associates in Concord where he loved the work and the people that he worked with.
On May 11, 1957 he married his sweetheart, Brighton native Elizabeth A. McNeill, in Saint Columbkille Church on Market Street and the couple made Waltham their lifelong home.
Paul was a longtime sponsor of the Waltham Little Nippers Baseball League where he coached the Yankees for a number of years. He was also a faithful parishioner of Saint Mary's Church where he'd been a member of the Holy Name Society, a lector at Sunday masses and a member of the parish council. He also belonged to the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham.
He and Elizabeth enjoyed thirty-nine happy years together before her death on December 6, 1996 . . . and when the page turned and his name was on it he was looking forward to their grand reunion.
He leaves his children, Maureen Veneto and her husband, Peter, of Waltham and Paul J. Brady, Jr. and his wife, Susan, of Wayland; his grandchildren, Joseph O'Brien, James O'Brien and his wife, Lindsay, Shealagh Duca and her husband, Thomas, and Leah, Shane and Jake Brady; his step-grandchildren, Nicole and Gillian Veneto; his great-grandchildren, Ellie Grace and Conor Blake O'Brien; his sister, Alice Lupinski of Waltham and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was also the brother of the late Robert Brady.
Family and friends will honor and remember Paul's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, November 8th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
