Paul F. "Buddy" Carroll, Jr.

Paul F. (Buddy) Carroll, Jr. of Wells, Maine formerly of West Newton and Bedford, MA died Tuesday, December 10, 2024 of Lung Cancer. 

Born and raised in West Newton, Buddy was the son of the late Paul F. Carroll, Sr. and Dorothy H. (Goodale) Carroll. He was the loving brother of Linda Carroll Lyons and her husband Thomas J. Lyons of Weymouth, John (Jack) Carroll and his spouse, Lamont Warren of Medford, and Virginia (Ginny) Carroll Burke of Bellingham. He is also survived by his loving companion, Debbie Harris, of Wells, Maine; his nieces, nephews and his great and great-great nieces and nephews especially his niece, Joanna O'Connell and his great niece Meghan O'Connell of Halifax who held special places in Buddy's heart as well as many cousins. He was the brother of the late Kathleen (Kathy) Carroll Welch of Newton. 

Buddy was a Vietnam veteran who honorably served four years in the United States Air Force. He loved his country and was a proud patriot. He was a devoted son and caregiver to his Mother, Dottie, who suffered from Alzheimer's Disease for many years. He was an avid reader and Stephen King enthusiast in addition to being a swimmer and weather permitting, would swim daily. He was a big fan of professional football and hockey, a passion he and Debbie shared. He loved fishing and spent many happy, relaxing hours fishing.

In 2015 he bought a home in Wells, Maine and acquired his beloved dog, Spanky. The two of them enjoyed time spent outside and tramping through the woods on the property. 

Family was an integral part of his life. Buddy was a "unique" and loving soul who had his "ups and downs" but was always loved and supported by his family and friends. He has gone on to a place of peace, love, and acceptance to be reunited with those he loved and who loved him. 

Family and friends will honor and remember Buddy’s life by gathering for a Morning Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, December 17th from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by his service at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
