Waltham – Mr. Paul A. Daigle, of Waltham, died at home surrounded by family on Thursday, July 11, 2013. He was 78.
Paul was born in Waltham on June 15, 1935, a son of the late Maxine and Yvonne (Vautour) Daigle. While serving in the United States Air Force during the Korean War at McClellan Base in California he met his wife, Sacramento native Lola M. (Dykes) Daigle. They were married in Saint Joseph's Church in Waltham on May 25, 1957 and moved to Waltham later that year where they settled for twenty-one years. After a move to Peabody they later retired and returned to Waltham.
He worked most of his life for the Raytheon Company. A machinist by trade he worked on the Land Rover project and the Patriot missile system. He retired from the company as a foreman. After retirement he and Lola moved to Peabody for a time where they both worked at Lahey Clinic.
Paul and Lola loved spending time with their children and grandchildren and often took on projects at home together. They also loved to travel, especially taking cruises. Paul was a golfer and enjoyed walking, riding his bike and gardening. He had also been a lifelong member of Saint Joseph's Parish in Waltham and the French-American Victory Club.
Paul's wife, Lola, died May 29, 2012.
He leaves his children, Yvette Daigle and her spouse, Maria, of Waltham and Paul A. Daigle, Jr. and his spouse, Sandy, of Charlton; his grandchildren, Jared, Jessica, Jillian, and Holly; his siblings Emile Daigle and his wife, Denyse, of Taunton, Dorice LeBlanc and her husband, Joe, of Waltham, Rosemarie Pineau and her husband, Ray, of Billerica and many nieces and nephews.
Paul was also a brother of the late Edmond Daigle and his wife, Phyllis, and Eveline Aucoin and her husband, Ernie and close friend of the late Beatrice Joe Wesley.
Family and friends will honor and remember Paul's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, July 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
