Waltham - Mr. Paul L. 'Buster' Keating, Jr., of Waltham, died peacefully September 23rd at Beth Israel Hospital surrounded by his family after a brief illness. He was 69. Born in Boston, a son of the late Paul and Elizabeth (Fitzsimmons) Keating, Paul was a lifelong truck driver and antique truck enthusiast. He was the former owner of Aberdeen Trucking, and an avid member of the American Historical Truck Society and a retired member of Teamsters Local 25. Paul spent his early years in Waltham but eventually moved to Wayland and graduated from Wayland High School in 1956. He joined the United States Navy and worked as a teletype operator stationed in Japan. Upon his return to Massachusetts, he worked alongside his father at Edwards Lumber Yard in Newton and eventually went into the construction and building trades which lead him to start his own trucking company. He raised his family on Aberdeen Avenue in Waltham where he lived until his death. He passed on his lifelong love of antique trucks to his family and he and his wife traveled with the Antique Truck Club, sometimes showing his 1956 Mack B Model. His adult children and grandchildren frequently joined him for the annual shows, especially the event held in Hudson, which this August resulted in an article and photograph in the News Tribune. Paul greatly enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren and will be missed by his wife and family. Paul leaves his wife Mary C. (Birmingham) Keating; his children, Paul L. Keating, III of Leicester, William F. Keating of Pelham, New Hampshire, Mary Ayotte of Framingham, Maureen Keating of Marlborough, and Margaret Keating of Watertown; his grandchildren, Ryan, Michael, Julia, Brooke, Billy, Emily, Dolan, Natalie and Shane; his brother, William Keating of Wayland; two sisters, Martha Keating of Wayland and Elizabeth Hill of Cotuit and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Saturday at 10 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
