Weston – Mr. Paul A. Morrison, of Weston, died Saturday, May 17, 2008 at Wayside Hospice in Wayland. He was 82. Born and raised in Cambridge, a son of the late Charles P. and Helen F. (McGlinchey) Morrison, Paul was a graduate of Cambridge High and Latin School. After high school he joined the United States Army where he served in the Signal Corps. He spent twenty-one months in Europe, arriving in August of 1944. He fought at the infamous 'Battle of the Bulge' in the Rhineland area of France and Germany and in central Europe. He was awarded several commendations, including the Bronze Star. After the war he went to work for the New England Telephone and Telegraph Company where he worked for forty-years. In 1950 he married his late wife, Eileen M. (Henry) Morrison who died in May, 2005. The couple moved to Weston in the early 1960's. While he was working nights as a foreman with the phone company, Paul was also a full-time Weston Police Officer during the day, regularly working eighty hour weeks to support his young and growing family that included seven children. After he retired from the police force, he worked for several years as a court officer at the Waltham District Court. He was a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post No. 156 in Waltham. Paul leaves his children, Mary Ann Smith and her husband, Robert, of Bedford, William Morrison of Weston, Barbara Doyle and her husband, Joseph, of Sudbury, Eileen Watson and her husband, Kenneth, of Weston, Elizabeth Carney and her husband, Stuart, of Merrimack, New Hampshire, Christine O'Brien of Wayland and Paul Morrison, Jr. and his wife, Maura, of Concord; his brothers and sisters, John Morrison, Nancy Mulrey, Charles Morrison and Susan Teague, all of Marshfield; 15 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews. He was also a brother of the late Eleanor and Barbara Morrison, Janet Rice and Jean Quinn. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral at 9 a.m. Wednesday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Julia's Church, 374 Boston Post Road, Weston Center at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
