Waltham – Mr. Paul E. Peters, of Waltham, died Wednesday, June 8, 2011 in the Avery Manor Nursing Home in Needham. He was 92.
Paul was born in Newton on January 30, 1919, a son of the late Solomon and Catherine (Doiron) Peters and had lived in Waltham for more than sixty years. During World War II he served with the United States Army. After the war he went to work for the Boston & Maine Railroad and later became a mail sorter at the United States Post Office in Waltham where he worked for thirty-five years. He was a member of the Mail Handlers Union.
An avid golfer, he also enjoyed playing cards and trying his luck on lottery tickets. Paul had been a member of Saint Mary’s Church Holy Name Society and the Knights of Columbus in Waltham.
The husband of the late Louise M. (Mazochi) Peters, he leaves his children, Paul D. Peters of Needham, Sandra J. Bell of Framingham, Stephen W. Peters and his wife, JoAnne, of Reading and Denise M. Creamer and her husband, David, of Attleboro; his grandchildren, Dennis Peters, Susanne Albee, Peter Bell, Sheila Hana, Jennifer Thomas, Christina Laskey, Melissa Nov and LCPL Michael Creamer, USMC; 8 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was a brother of the late Henry A. Peters, Florence M. Dorney, Rita P. Alexander, Joseph W. Peters, and Ida R. Murphy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Paul’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, June 12th, from 3 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
