Englewood, Fla. – Mr. Paul D. Sheahan of Englewood, formerly of Waltham, died Tuesday, March 22, 2016, in the Port Charlotte Hospice House. He was 80.
Paul was born in Cambridge on October 26, 1935, a son of the late Thomas and Irene (Walsh) Sheahan and was a graduate of Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. During the Korean War he served with the United States Coast Guard.
In 1968 he and his family moved to Waltham where he owned Sheahan Painting Company until his retirement. Paul enjoyed golf, cooking, gardening, and celebrating his favorite holiday, Saint Patrick's Day. When his kids were growing Paul was an umpire for Waltham's Little Nippers Baseball.
He was husband of the late Janice M. (Black) Sheahan for forty-six years until her death in 2011.
Paul is survived by his children, Alanna Shone and her husband, Kevin, of Lynnfield, Brenda Schuler of Charlotte, North Carolina, Daniel Sheahan and his wife, Shannon, of Holden and Brian Sheahan and his wife, Rachael, of Billerica; his grandchildren, Harrison, Cameron, Nikole, Zachary, Griffin, Cassidy, Andrew, Nicholas, Brendan and Logan; his sister, Mary Whalon of Presque Isle, ME; his sister-in-law, Ann Sheahan of Cambridge; his companion, Anna Redovan and many nieces and nephews.
He was a brother of the late Edward Sheahan, Dorothy Grace and Joseph Sheahan.
Family and friends will honor and remember Paul's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, March 29th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning in Mount Feake Cemetery, 203 Prospect Street, Waltham where graveside services will be held at 11 a.m.
