Waltham - Mrs. Pauline E. 'Polly' (Kondrup) Manning, of Waltham, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 with her family by her side. She was 75. Polly was born in Rochester, New Hampshire on September 6, 1933 and was a daughter of the late Alfred and Dorothy (Shepherd) Kondrup. After graduating from Rochester High School she went to work at the former Wellesley Children's Hospital. After her marriage to the late Donald J. Manning she moved to Waltham in 1954 and had been a resident since. She also worked for the Waltham Cemetery Department and as a legal secretary at her husband's law firm, but will be remembered most by her children as being a terrific homemaker. Polly enjoyed traveling the world over and spent many happy days strolling the beaches of Wells, Maine with her family. Her hobbies included doing crossword puzzles, reading, playing board games and researching family genealogy. Polly was also the driving force behind her late husband Don's political campaigns over the years, helping him earn the title of 'Dean' of the Waltham City Council during his 35 year tenure and twenty years as a state representative. Polly leaves her children, DawnMarie Manning of Waltham, Robbin Manning Pinkham and her husband, David, and Donna Manning Gooch and her husband, Robert, all of Ashland; her brother, Alfred Kondrup and his wife, Beatrice, of Rochester, New Hampshire; her sister, Gladys Sherlock of Coalinga, California; her sister-in-law, Pauline Manning of Waltham and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Grace Archinski, Anna Kincaid, Richard and Charles Kondrup. Family and friends will honor and remember Polly's life by gathering to visit at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday morning at 11 a.m. followed by a ceremony celebrating her life at 12 Noon.
