Mashpee - Mrs. Pauline J. (Sullivan) Thompson, of Mashpee, formerly of Waltham, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, August 3, 2016 after being stricken ill while visiting her daughter. She was 73.
Pauline was born October 27, 1942 in Brighton a daughter of the late Milford and Eleanor (Lang) Sullivan. Raised and educated in Waltham she was a graduate of Waltham High School. She married Waltham firefighter Lloyd R. Thompson on March 7, 1965 in the Auburndale Congregational Church. They had been residents of Waltham for most of their lives prior to moving to Cape Cod fifteen years ago, settling in Falmouth and later in Mashpee.
Prior to retirement in 2004 Pauline worked as a bank teller at Guarantee Bank, First Trust and later Sovereign Bank for over 25 years.
She enjoyed retirement on Cape Cod and her pastimes included knitting, especially items for her grandchildren, reading, crafts and 'Words with Friends'. Pauline and Lloyd enjoyed spending time in Florida during the winters.
In addition to her husband of 51 years, Lloyd, she leaves their children, Kenneth L. Thompson of Falmouth, Kim M. Thibeault and her husband, Gary of Shrewsbury, Karen A. Maillet and her husband, Dave and Andrea L. Guinane and her husband, Andrew, all of Billerica; her grandchildren, Victoria, Brianna, and Kenneth J. 'K.J.' Thompson, Cameron and Madison Thibeault, Jessica Maillet, Andrew, Justin and Quinn Guinane; her siblings, Judith 'Judy' Lyle and Ronald 'Ronnie' Sullivan and his wife, Laura all of Waltham; also survived by many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Pauline's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, August 7th from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Monday morning when her funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
